Cardinal Hayes, Stepinac to Play for Archdiocesan Championship

Top seed Cardinal Hayes and third seed Archbishop Stepinac will play for the Archdiocesan Boys Basketball Championship on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Mount St. Michael Academy in the Bronx.

The two teams split their two regular-season meetings.

Cardinal Hayes, ranked second in this week’s Class AA poll by the New York State Sportswriters Association, tipped St. Peter’s, 52-51, in a semifinal, and Archbishop Stepinac, ranked 13th, beat rival Iona Prep, 75-58, in the second semifinal.
