My name is Dan Pietrafesa and I joined the reporting staff at Catholic New York in February 2016. Before coming to Catholic New York, I was an award-winning sports writer and editor in the Hudson Valley for three decades, covering youth sports, high school athletics, college basketball and professional sports. I worked for over 25 years at the Poughkeepsie Journal, the second oldest newspaper in the United States, and am a 2013 inductee into the New York State High School Softball Hall of Fame. I also coached softball and basketball for 10 years, including a CYO basketball team, and was an active contributing member of the New York State Sports Writers Association and New York State Sports Writers and Coaches Organization for Girls Sports.
Catholic Sports Scene publishes news and recognizes the accomplishments of athletes and schools in the Archdiocese of New York. It also publishes news and notes on athletes who came through the archdiocese and are now competing on the collegiate or professional levels.
If you have Catholic sports news to share with everyone in the archdiocese, please email firstname.lastname@example.org for consideration to be included on the blog, cny.org and/or Catholic New York.
