Annual Nun Run/Walk Goes Virtual

The 2021 Nun Run/Walk 5K is going virtual in 2021.

The event, held since 2015, is hosted by the Sisters of St. Dominic of Blauvelt.

Registration is open with cost being $20 for adults and $15 for children under the age of 18.

With the event being virtual, runners and walkers may choose the time and location to complete their five-kilometer run/walk before the registration deadline of 11:59 p.m. on May 15.

Summer XC Series in Ulster

Ulster County CYO is partnering with the Irish Cultural Center Hudson Valley for the 2019 Kingston X-Country Summer Series.

The five-week series with races for adults and children begins July 10 and ends Aug. 7 at Twins Lakes in Hurley. Races will be held at Hurley Rail Trail July 17, John A. Coleman Catholic High School in Hurley July 24 and Williams Lake in Rosendale July 31.

Race distances increase weekly, starting at three miles and ending at five miles.

Registration begins at 6 p.m.

Nun Run 5K Coming May 12

Twenty nuns — eight Sisters of St. Dominic of Blauvelt and 12 Maryknoll sisters — are among the early entries for the he fourth annual Nun Run 5K on May 12 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Dominic Convent in Blauvelt.

The race, which begins and ends at St. Dominic Convent, takes runners throughout Blauvelt. Prizes will be awarded to the top-three women, men, boys and girls to finish the race.

The race fee is $32 plus a $3 sign-up fee. After May 7, the race fee increases to $35, $38 with the sign-up fee. Runners registering online may use the promo code of CATHOLICNEWYORK to receive a $5 discount.
