Some 1,800 walkers took part in the 11th annual ALS Walk on the Walkway Over The Hudson on Oct. 20.
The annual event, sponsored by the Notre Dame Club of the Mid Hudson Valley, has raised almost $2 million over the 11 years.
“We are motivated by the simple fact that we still don’t have a cure,” said Les McCarthy, co-president of the club, in a press release. “We’re also proud of the fact that the first 10 years of the walk has done great things for our ALS neighbors in the Hudson Valley, especially in the way of better patient care and caregiver support. When we began, most of the support for ALS was in NYC or Albany and we were in the middle of nowhere. That’s changed.”
Next year’s walk is scheduled for Oct. 18.
