Iona Prep graduate Brad Case bounced back with two shutout innings of no-hit baseball for the Altoona Curve in a 2-1 victory over Akron.
Case struck out three for the Curve, the Class AA affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates.
His effort came after he allowed seven runs in four innings over his three final outings of July.
Case is 1-2 with a save and 3.64 earned run average for the Curve in 2022.

Iona Prep graduate Brad Case rebounded from his worst outing of the season with two strong performances.
Case has not surrendered a run over five innings in his last two appearances for the Altoona Curve, the Class AA affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates. He allowed one hit, no walks and struck out five in the two outings against the Richmond Flying Squirrels, earning the win for three shutout innings in the second appearance.
Prior to these two outings, Case gave up six earned runs over four innings against the Akron RubberDucks.
Case is 2-2 with a save and 4.17 earned run average. His statistics include his time in Class AAA with Indianapolis in April, where he pitched to a 9.35 earned run average. In June with Altoona, he gave up two earned runs and struck out 15 over 17 innings to finish with a 1.06 earned run average.
Case was a 17th-round pick of the Pirates in the 2018 Major League Baseball Draft.

Iona Prep graduate Brad Case allowed one earned run on four hits and struck out three over four relief innings for the Altoona Curve in a 6-0 loss to the Harrisburg Senators on July 2.
Case is coming off a month in June where he pitched to an earned run average of 1.06 by allowing only two earned runs on 12 hits and striking out 15 over 17 innings for the Class AA affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Since joining Altoona in May, Case is pitching to a 2.25 ERA after posting a 9.35 ERA in six games for Indianapolis, the Class AAA affiliate of the Pirates.

In his last nine outings, Case has allowed only two earned runs on 14 hits and five walks over 21 innings. He has 21 strikeouts and has given up only two extra-base hits, both doubles.
Case is 0-0 with a save and 2.25 earned run average for Altoona, the AA affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates. He started the season in AAA with the Indianapolis Indians.
Case was a 17th-round pick of the Pirates in the 2018 Major League Baseball Draft.

St. Joseph by-the-Sea graduate Ricky DeVito allowed one hit and struck out three in 1 ⅓ innings of relief for the Greensboro Grasshoppers in a 13-6 win over Ashville.
DeVito, who was named Big East Pitcher of the Year while at Seton Hall University, is 0-0 with a 3.29 earned run average for the Grasshoppers, the High A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates.
In seven relief appearances this year, he’s struck out 12 over 13 ⅔ innings.
DeVito was an eighth round pick of the Atlanta Braves in the 2019 Major League Baseball Draft before being traded to the Pirates in 2021.
St. Joseph by-the-Sea High School graduate Ricky DeVito allowed one hit and struck out two over two innings for the Greensboro Grasshoppers in a 7-6 victory over the Rome Braves.
DeVito, who was named the Big East Pitcher of the Year while at Seton Hall University, is 1-1 with a 3.65 earned run average for the Grasshoppers, the High A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates. He has 12 strikeouts in 9 1/3 innings.
St. Joseph by-the-Sea High School graduate Ricky DeVito picked up his first victory of the season in leading the Greensboro Grasshoppers to a 4-3 victory over the Aberdeen IronBirds.
The Grasshoppers are a High-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates.
DeVito, who was the Big East Conference Pitcher of the Year while at Seton Hall, allowed an earned run on three hits and two walks over two innings. He struck out two.
For the season, DeVito is 1-1 with a 2.89 earned run average.

Case scattered five hits and struck out three for the Indians, who are a Class AAA affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Indianapolis begins a six-game series in St. Paul on Tuesday night.
St. Joseph by-the-Sea High School graduate Ricky DeVito and the Greensboro Grasshoppers will open the season on Friday with a three-game series against the Rome Braves.
DeVito pitched for Rome in 2019 and 2021 before being traded by the Atlanta Braves to the Pittsburgh Pirates on July 30, 2021. The Grasshoppers are a High-A affiliate of the Pirates.
DeVito was 0-3 with a 2.66 earned run average before his season was cut short due to injury. He struck out 27 in 20 1/3 innings.
DeVito was drafted in the eighth round of the 2019 draft by the Braves after being named the 2018 Big East Pitcher of the Year by pitching to an earned run average of 1.88 for Seton Hall.
