Manhertz in Jaguars Camp

Cardinal Spellman High School graduate Chris Manhertz is in his second NFL training camp with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The 6-foot-6, 255 pound tight end signed a two-year, $7.25 million deal with the Jaguars in March 2021 and finished last season with six receptions for 71 yards and one touchdown in 17 games, 10 being starts.

For his career, the 30 year old has 17 catches for 202 yards and two touchdowns.

Manhertz played basketball at Canisius College in Buffalo and was offered a tryout by the Buffalo Bills following his collegiate career. After the Bills released him, he was on the practice squad for the New Orleans Saints in 2015 and was in uniform for three games in 2016 before being released.

The Carolina Panthers claimed him off waivers from the Saints and he played five seasons with the Panthers.

Jacksonville will open its preseason against the Las Vegas Raiders in the Hall of Fame Game on Thursday, Aug. 4 at 8 p.m. on NBC. The Jaguars will begin their regular season against the Washington Commanders on Sunday, Sept. 11.

The Jaguars will host the Giants on Oct. 23 on FOX and will play the Jets at MetLife Stadium on Thursday, Dec. 22, a game being televised by Amazon Prime.

Pass Reception For Manhertz

Chris Manhertz caught an 11-yard pass in helping the Jacksonville Jaguars to their first win of the season with a 23-20 victory over the Miami Dolphins in England on Sunday.

The tight end has three catches for 40 yards and a touchdown this season.

Manhertz, 29, is a graduate of Cardinal Spellman High School in the Bronx and played collegiate basketball at Canisius College in Buffalo before turning his focus to football after college.

Manhertz, Jaguars Drop to 0-2

Cardinal Spellman High School graduate Chris Manhertz and the Jacksonville Jaguars dropped to 0-2 with a 23-13 loss to the unbeaten Denver Broncos on Sunday.

The Jaguars lost their season opener to the Houston Texans, 37-21. In this game, Manhertz, a tight end, caught a 22-yard touchdown pass, the second touchdown reception of his career.

Jacksonville will host the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.

Marist Grad Myers Visiting Jets

Jason Myers, a California native who played football at Marist College, is coming to the metropolitan area with the Jacksonville Jaguars when they meet the New York Jets on Sunday.

Myers, a kicker, is 7 for 8 in field-goal attempts this season with his long being 45 yards and is 8 for 9 on extra points.

Myers, 24, is in his third season with the Jaguars and is 60 for 72 in his field-goal tries with a career-long 58-yard field goal over his career.

Myers played at one of the country’s largest Catholic high schools — Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, Calif. He is one of two former Marist football players currently competing in the NFL, the other being Miami Dolphins defensive end Terrence Fede of Nyack.
