All CYO and CHSAA practices and games have been suspended indefinitely, according to a release from archdiocesan Superintendent of Catholic Schools Michael Deegan.
Among the events suspended by this release:
— Two quarterfinal CHSAA AA boys basketball games scheduled for Friday at Mount St. Michael Academy.
— State championship boys basketball games in Buffalo on Saturday for Salesian and Fordham Prep.
— The Catholic high school girls basketball tournament semifinal and championship games that were originally for this weekend and were moved to March 20 and 21.
— This weekend’s CYO basketball semifinal and championship games at Mount St. Michael Academy.
— CYO Cheerleading Championships at the College of Staten Island on March 21.
— CYO Indoor Track and Field Championships at Ocean Breeze on Staten Island on March 28.
The CYO New York basketball semifinal and final games scheduled for this weekend at Mount St. Michael Academy have been postponed due to the evolving public health risks related to coronavirus.
The games are tentatively rescheduled for April 25 and 26.
An announcement will be made Friday regarding the CYO cheerleading championships at the College of Staten Island on March 21.
CYO New York is offering scholar-athlete and soccer programs to go with other programs already offered in past years during the 2019-2020 academic year.
Basketball, cheerleading, cross country and track and field are among the returning CYO programs in the archdiocese.

The College of Staten Island will serve again as the site for the CYO New York Cheerleading Championships on Saturday.
There are two sessions with the varsity and debs divisions competing in the morning session that begins at 9 a.m., and the biddy division will compete in the afternoon session that starts at 12:30 p.m.
