There’s no doubt Iona Prep may have the toughest schedule in 2022.
And so far, the Gaels have done quite well to start the season with a 3-1 record.
Iona Prep, the defending Catholic high school state champion, now enters its most challenging portion of its Catholic High School Football League schedule with St. Anthony’s, Archbishop Stepinac and Kellenberg in the next three weeks. All four teams are 2-0 in league play.
Iona Prep is ranked first in the most recent Class AA poll compiled by the New York State Sportswriters Association. Stepinac is third, St. Anthony’s is fourth and Kellenberg is 18th.
On Saturday, the Gaels host a St. Anthony’s team, which is coming off an impressive victory over state-ranked Msgr. Farrell.
