Six players from the archdiocese will be cheering on their respective teams when Army plays Navy at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., on Saturday.
Kickoff is 3 p.m. on CBS for the regular-season finale for both teams. Army (8-3 overall) will play Missouri in the Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl in Fort Worth, Texas, on Dec. 22 at 8 p.m. on ESPN.
Christian Anderson and Malkelm Morrison were opponents in high school and now teammates at Army.
Anderson, a senior quarterback out of Cardinal Hayes High School, has thrown for 545 yards and five touchdowns and run for 519 yards and six touchdowns this season. For his career, Anderson has rushed for 1,393 yards and 13 touchdowns, and thrown for 869 yards and eight touchdowns.
Morrison, a senior linebacker out of Iona Prep, has 50 tackles in 2021 and 127 for his career. He resident had nine tackles in his team’s win over Air Force last month.
For Navy, John Kelly III is a Msgr. Farrell graduate with five tackles this season from the Raider position. The senior has eight tackles in 19 games over three seasons.
Two Fordham Prep graduates – Mattie Conlon and Joseph Petti – are offensive lineman. Conlon, a senior from the Bronx, has played in two games this season, and Petti is a junior from Yonkers.
A fourth player at Navy, Romaine Robinson, is a sophomore cornerback from Salisbury Mills in Orange County. He is a graduate of Don Bosco Prep in New Jersey.
