Archbishop Stepinac High School graduate RJ Davis finished with 12 points, two rebounds and two steals in 21 minutes off the bench as the University of North Carolina defeated visiting Syracuse University, 81-75, in an Atlantic Coast Conference men’s basketball battle on Tuesday night.
The Tar Heels won a third consecutive game in the first meeting between former Stepinac teammates Davis and Alan Griffin of Syracuse University. Griffin, a transfer from the University of Illinois, had 16 points, seven rebounds, three blocks and two assists.
Davis and Griffin helped Stepinac win the 2018 New York State Federation championship.
Syracuse will host North Carolina on March 1.
