Davis Shines in UNC loss to Texas

Archbishop Stepinac High School graduate RJ Davis finished with 11 points, four rebounds and three assists for the University of North Carolina men’s basketball team in a 69-67 loss to Texas in the championship game of the Maui Invitational on Wednesday.

Davis’ three assists and his plus-13 were team highs for the Tar Heels. The freshman guard defensively forced a tough shot by tournament most valuable player Matt Coleman that hit the front rim and backboard before dropping through the net for the winning field goal with 0.1 seconds remaining.

Davis is averaging 12.3 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists in four games for North Carolina (3-1 overall).
