Archbishop Stepinac High School graduate Alan Griffin announced over the weekend that he will transfer to Syracuse University to play basketball for the 2020-2021 season.
Griffin averaged 8.9 points and 4.5 rebounds per game for the University of Illinois, which was ranked 21st in the final Associated Press poll for 2019-2020 season.
Griffin will have two years of eligibility remaining at Syracuse. It’s uncertain whether he’ll play in 2020-2021 or if he’ll be required to sit out a season in accordance with NCAA rules.
A story recapping Griffin’s season and three other basketball players from the archdiocese will be published in this week’s Catholic New York.
