Football Finals Set for Saturday

Cardinal Hayes will look to win its first Catholic High School Football League AAA Championship since 2016 when it plays two-time defending state champ Archbishop Stepinac at Mitchel Athletic Complex in Uniondale at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Hayes, seeded fourth, advanced by upsetting top seed Iona Prep, 45-34, in a semifinal, Second-seeded Stepinac defeated third seed Christ the King, 43-6. In its regular-season matchup, Stepinac defeated Hayes, 28-26, in White Plains.

The Hayes-Stepinac matchup is the second of three at Mitchel on Saturday. In the opener at 11 a.m., top seed Moore Catholic opposes second seed St. Joseph by-the-Sea for the AA-2 Championship. At 5:30 p.m., top seed Chaminade and second seed Kellenberg compete for the AA-1 Championship.
