Msgr. Farrell’s Jimmy Ryan and Iona Prep’s A.J. Kovacs won state titles at the New York State high school federation championships in Albany on Saturday.
Ryan, a senior, decisioned North Babylon’s Sean Carter, 3-0, in the 119-pound final. Kovacs, a junior, won by a 3-2 decision over Half Hollows Hills East’s Jonathan Spadafora at 145 pounds.
Iona Prep junior Matt Kelly placed third at 195 pounds, and Msgr. Farrell senior Terry Adams finished fourth at 112 pounds.
