Iona Preparatory School graduate Brad Case was just promoted to the West Virginia Black Bears of the New York-Penn League and is awaiting his first outing with the team.
The Black Bears, winners of three consecutive games, host Auburn tonight before beginning a three-game series in State College, Pa., on Wednesday and closing out the season with a three-game series starting Saturday versus Mahoning Valley at home.
Case started the season with the Gulf Coast (Rookie) League Pirates where he was 3-0 with a 3.38 earned run average. In his last two starts, he pitched for the Bristol Pirates of the Appalachian League on Aug. 20 and Aug. 26, going 1-1 with a 3.72 earned run average.
Case, 21, was a 17th-round pick of the Pittsburgh Pirates out of Rollins College (Fla.) in the 2018 Major League Baseball Draft.
