Marist Community Welcomes Dunne

John Dunne was introduced as men’s basketball coach to the Marist College community at the McCann Arena in Poughkeepsie on Thursday.

Dunne was named the 12th head coach in program history on Tuesday.

“This is a great opportunity for myself and my family,” said Dunne in a press release. “We’re excited to join the Marist and Hudson River Valley communities. Having been in the MAAC for the past 12 years, I’ve been impressed by the tremendous support this program has received. We’re excited for what this job has the potential to become.”

Dunne coached 12 seasons at St. Peter’s, coaching the Peacocks to 2011 MAAC Tournament championship, 2011 NCAA Tournament and the 2017 CollegeInsider.com championship. Prior to St. Peter’s, he served as an assistant coach at Siena College, Manhattan College, Seton Hall University, Wilkes University (Pa.) and Adelphi University.

Dunne, a graduate of Archbishop Molloy High School in Queens, played collegiately at Ithaca College. He earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Ithaca and a master’s degree in sports management from East Stroudsburg University (Pa.).
