Carrera Raises Average with Streak

Jose Carrera has raised his batting average 84 points with his nine-game hitting streak.

During the streak, the 5-foot, 2-inch infielder is 11 for 32 to raise his overall average to .240 with four doubles, triple and nine RBI through Aug. 17 with the Gulf Coast League Yankees East, rookie level baseball. His on-base percentage is .352.

Carrera, who played four years of baseball at Manhattan College, was signed by the Yankees as an undrafted free agent in late June.
