Msgr. Scanlan Wins Archdiocese Title, Falls in City Championship Game

Msgr. Scanlan High School captured the Archdiocesan Class A championship with a 66-31 victory over St. Joseph By-The-Sea before dropping its rematch with Brooklyn Diocese champ Mary Louis Academy in the CHSAA Class AA City Championship.

In the champion win over St. Joseph By-The-Sea, Chanell Williams finished with 15 points, five rebounds, five assists and five steals, and Kateri Poole added 14 points and eight rebounds. Kaylen Banwareesingh had 10 points and eight rebounds.

Msgr. Scanlan, which won a second consecutive archdiocese championship, is 21-7 and will compete in a state semifinal on Friday with the winner advancing to Saturday’s state championship game at Fordham University.
